French choreographer Xavier Le Roy will present a free talk at Sydney College of the Arts. Le Roy's work Untitled (2012) was presented for Kaldor Public Art Project 27: 13 Rooms (2013) and was recognised as one of the strongest and most resonant pieces in the exhibition. The talk is open to the general public and will focus on Le Roy's fascinating artistic practice which sits between contemporary dance and perfomance art.
Le Roy first studied as a molecular biologist before becoming an acclaimed choreographer, dancer and performance artist. Over the past two decades, he has collaborated with numerous acclaimed dancers and artists around the world including Tino Sehgal, who credits him as his inspiration for combining precepts of dance with visual arts. Le Roy's work has been shown in many international festivals and institutions, including Tanz im August (Berlin), the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the National Museum of Contemporary Art (Seoul) and the Julia Stoschek Collection (Dusseldorf).
