Nicholas Baume is Director and Chief Curator of Public Art Fund in New York. A former Curator of Kaldor Public Art Projects, he has also worked at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut, and most recently Chief Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.

Baume has a long history with Kaldor Public Art Projects, having curated the first exhibition of the John Kaldor Family Collection and the Kaldor Projects in the exhibition From Christo and Jeanne-Claude to Jeff Koons: John Kaldor Art Projects and Collection at the MCA in 1995 for the 25th anniversary of the projects at the same time that Koons's Puppy was installed in front of the museum. Baume is currently on the curatorial advisory board of Kaldor Public Art Projects.

Baume's talk at the Art Gallery of NSW will be introduced by Head Curator of Australian Art, Wayne Tunnicliffe, and will discuss his recent projects at the Public Art Fund and the growth of public art projects internationally, with Kaldor Public Art Projects as a prime example in Australia.
