Dr Catherine De Lorenzo discusses the innovations and cultural legacies triggered by the 1879 Sydney International Exhibition.
Art historian Dr Catherine De Lorenzo is Honorary Associate Professor at UNSW Art & Design, University of New South Wales, Sydney, and Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash Art Design and Architecture, Melbourne. She is a Chief Investigator on an Australian Research Council Linkage Project ‘Australian Art Exhibitions 1968-2009: a generation of cultural transformation’, which surveys the impact of curatorial strategies on Australian art history. Her research also examines Australian art historiography, Australian and European photographic exchange, and contemporary public art. She has served on the editorial boards of History of Photography, Design and Art Australia Online, and Visual Studies.
