Ann Toy explores the Garden Palace and its place in the political landscape of Sydney.
Ann Toy is an independent art historian and curator, specialising in the restoration of historic interiors, and Australian fine and decorative arts. Prior to joining the Historic Houses Trust (now Sydney Living Museums) in 1981, she was an assistant curator at the National Gallery of Victoria. Ann was the inaugural curator of Vaucluse House, and was subsequently curator of Elizabeth Bay House, Susannah Place and Meroogal. From 1996 to 2011, as Supervising Curator of Government House, Sydney, she managed the curatorial program for the building’s conservation, collection development, and the contemporary refurbishment program of the vice-regal interiors. In 2000 she was a contributor to the book Colonial City Global City: Sydney’s International exhibition 1879.
