Hands On Weavers
Join Aboriginal artists from the Hands On Weavers group from Wagga Wagga as they demonstrate weaving and talk about their traditional practice.
Saturday at 2:30pm, Sunday and Monday at 11am
The Hands On Weavers are a collective of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal weavers from Wagga Wagga in Wiradjuri country in central New South Wales. The collective has been working together for a number of years, participating in exhibitions, public programs and events throughout the region and widely recognised for their work within the community. Their practice is underpinned by traditional Aboriginal values of sharing stories and skills. Many of the artists from the group are in collections including the Australian Museum. Artists attending include Aunty Joyce Hampton, Aunty Julie Christian, Pam Honeysett and Jayne Christian.
