On May 21st and 22nd, the Art Gallery of NSW launched the John Kaldor Family Collection with an extraordinary weekend of over 60 talks and events. With record numbers through the door, the weekend was a celebration of contemporary art and this important gift.
Talks, performances, workshops and tours took place throughout the gallery - from the forecourt and lecture theatres to the galleries on the new floor. Temporary seating within the galleries allowed artists and curators to speak with large groups alongside the works themselves and visitors spent hours enjoying the new collection gifted by John Kaldor and his family to the state of NSW.
The majority of the gift is on display for the launch but the full collection includes over 200 works by significant and celebrated international artists from the 1950s to now. Visit the gallery's website for more details of the collection and keep up with their Art Afterhours Wednesday night program for more free talks, films and events.
