FORUM: THE LIVE EXPERIENCE

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

As the most exciting contemporary art does, Tino Sehgal’s constructed situations raise a lot of questions for the viewer.

For those of you who have experienced Project 29: Tino Sehgal’s This is so contemporary at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, you’re probably wondering - What is it like being in a Tino Sehgal work?  What is the experience from the perspective of the interpreters? What are the challenges of being part of a work that challenges the very idea of what an artwork is?

This Saturday 22 February at 2pm there will be a forum held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ Centenary Auditorium where you’ll have the chance to hear from the trained ‘interpreters’ who enact Project 29: This is so contemporary, as they reflect on their experience of participating in this exciting project.

Remember – this is an artwork that cannot be documented – the work is transmitted only through oral instructions given to these interpreters, who are responsible for your experience as a viewer. Make sure you don’t miss out on this unique insight into their role in Project 29: Tino Sehgal!
